Detailed project

NB: this form is filled entirely by the ones submitting the innovation.

What is the issue addressed?

Carbon capture is key to successfully combat climate change. Currently, per ton CO2 capture costs are very high and do not seem to fall any time soon.

How is the problem solved?

We employ diatoms in rivers that have been polluted through agricultural run offs. The diatoms ‘consume’ the polluting nutrients and sequester atmospheric carbon. This method allows low-cost carbon capture and carbon credit generation.

What is the customer target?

We sell carbon credits to firms who seek to increase their sustainability by offsetting their emissions. Our credits are especially attractive due to their low cost and co-benefits such as bioremediation of polluted rivers in developing countries.

How is this solution different?

Our solution is revolving around open systems rather than closed industrial settings.
